Peter Allen Memorial Lectures
For those who did not know, we, Thatcham Historical Society helped to organise the Peter Allen Memorial Lectures which ran throughout May and were put together in memory of the late Peter Allen who passed away in May 2009, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and to promote National Local and Community History Month.

Aspects of Berkshire's History: a day school
Berkshire Local History Association is hosting a day school "Aspects of Berkshire's History" on 3rd November 2007, 10.00 am to 4.30 pm at the Museum of English Rural Life, Redlands Road, Reading. Fee £10 including coffee, light lunch and tea.
Programme:
The Living Landscape Guided Walk
Sunday 18th November 11am – 3.00pm. Celebrate the start of Winter with this 6.5 mile guided circular walk from the Nature Discovery Centre at Thatcham up to Greenham Common for a picnic lunch and back via a different route.
Festival of the Arts
On Saturday, 6th October 2007, the society took part in the Thatcham Festival of the Arts to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the society. The event was organised by committee member Alf Wheeler and exhibition material by Dr Nick Young. St Mary's Church kindly loaned the Baptism and Mariage registers, Peter Allen also supplied newspaper material from 1967.
